Philosophy

Flavor is universal. Taste is individual. L'Explorateur exists to introduce individual tastes to new flavors. Vanilla is vanilla. An artichoke is an artichoke. Unagi is just unagi. What you bring to the table is your reaction - excited, freaked out, interested, disgusted, anything - and your memory.

We will have some unusual ingredients, we will use them in unexpected ways. But we will also feature what's best and most familiar in the land around Indiana - from vegetables to lamb to cheese to tree sap. And, while serving corn in January would certainly be unexpected, that's not really what we mean.

What we mean is seeking, finding, discovering, wandering, getting lost and coming back. That's what we want for you and for us. That's why we called it The Explorer.
